Northern Wanderer (and it’s races, St Croix 40 and Fire Tower Trail Races) believe that nature isn’t a privilege; it’s a human right. We believe that the outdoors are for everyone. But just believing these things isn’t enough.
In an effort to put these beliefs into practice, we have adopted a zero tolerance policy against harassment, hateful speech, and discriminatory or racist behaviors. Disqualification on the basis of any of these is at the discretion of the race directors.
We choose to be deliberately welcoming to all runners, providing a space where BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals may feel as safe and liberated outdoors as we ourselves do. Come as you are!
Further, to create this environment, we recognize that some communities may face significant hurdles. These may be financial, or they may be logistical (eg. finding a ride or pairing up with a buddy). If you have any concerns, please reach out to us privately. We will be happy to work with you to find a solution.
In addition, a portion of the proceeds from each event will be dedicated to increasing representation and opportunity in outdoor endeavors.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you out on the trails.
