Jamison and Lisa Swift have been involved in the trail running community in Minnesota since 2015. They’ve become highly active in groups such as Upper Midwest Trail Runners, and they enjoy volunteering at many races around the area. They have a love of the outdoors and the adventure that comes with trail running, as well as other outdoor activities such as biking and camping.
In early 2017, Jamison became interested in the winter ultra scene. However, he was unsure if he could tackle such long races. The Tuscobia 35 race was no longer being offered, and there were no good local events that could give people a taste of events like Arrowhead 135 or Tuscobia 80/160. Not to be deterred, Jamison decided that the best option was to create the event he wanted to see.
With the help and advice of Helen & Chris Scotch (Tuscobia directors), Ken Kruger (Arrowhead director), and John Storkamp (Rocksteady Running & multiple Arrowhead winner), the St. Croix 40 Winter Ultra was born. These folks provided the insight and assistance to make this event possible.
It is the hope of Jamison and Lisa that participants in the St. Croix 40 Winter Ultra get the chance to see if they have what it takes to tackle these amazing winter events.
